GRIMSBY ALEXANDRA’S & DOLPHINS’ SWIMMING CLUB
We are a quality TEACHING CLUB (swimming), affiliated to the ASA & RLSS Lifesaving. Members showing potential and/or interest are given details of local competitive clubs – we hold one internal competition only, but do not compete externally. Everyone attending has to become a member, paying an annual fee, in order to be covered by comprehensive insurance. session fees are paid in blocks – dates notified.
Our members are aged from 4 years old with no upper age limit. All teachers and helpers are volunteers, and are also members.
We are based at the new Grimsby Leisure Centre, Cromwell Road, Grimsby, meeting every Wednesday throughout the year, with 2 Junior sessions
- Juniors (4 – 15years), 6.30pm to 7.15pm: non-swimmers to pre-competitive
- Juniors (4 – 15 years), 7.15pm: non-swimmers & beginners (finish at 8.00pm) to pre-competitive (finish at 8.15pm)
N.B. Members may continue to swim in their relevant Junior Session until the end of the year in which they turn 16 years if they wish to do so, or may immediately transfer to the Senior session.
Senior session (from 16 years – no upper age limit), 7.15pm to 8.15pm: Social and/or fitness swim. Advice available if required.
N.B. All Junior sessions are structured lessons – with ASA qualified teachers. Our groups follow a mixture of ASA Learn to Swim Awards, supplemented by other ASA awards, plus several awards from the STA (Swimming Teachers Association) and our own Club certificates – this consolidates skills and techniques learned. We DO NOT have any ‘badge weeks’, as all children are independently assessed and progress at their own rate.
Adults wishing to enjoy a social or fitness swim use a dedicated section of the main area of the pool during the 2nd session only (7.15-8.15pm). ASA qualified teachers are available for advice, but we generally find that those attending this session prefer to ‘do their own thing’.
Please click on the Session button on the menu bar above for further information regarding any of these sessions, or use the ‘Contact Us’ form to request further details or if you have a specific question.
